Hi Everyone! ---- HAPPY EASTER!!!
I'm here with a fun tutorial for your enjoyment.
I love love love pairing my rubber stamps with my digital stamps and I often get questions about how I do it.
Mostly by masking ... that can either be with post-it notes or other covering techniques, but my favorite way is with my Versamarker and clear embossing powder.
So let's get started .....
First I print off my image .. this is called Easter Egg Whimsy 3 ... you can find that in the Just Some Lines Shop (it's a fabulous image for $2.00)
The I start coloring .. I am using my favorite markers ... COPICS! ... I love them for their bright colors.
Here is my image all colored.
Then I get my Versamarker. A Versamarker is just that, a "marker" with the Versamark embossable ink in it ... it goes on clear and takes embossing powder very well.
I like to use the brush tip and again just go over the entire image that I want protected. In this case it is the entire egg.
Then I add embossing powder to the image and tap off all of the excess.
Here is the image ready to be embossed ... notice that it's kind of dull now that it has the embossing powder completely covering it.
Now I am heating the image to melt the powder.
Here is the image fully sealed with embossing powder ... the other great effect with this is that my egg is now SHINY!! ... You can see this mostly at the bottom of the egg. (sorry lighting was not good)
Now I am taking my cloud stamp and I am ready to stamp ON the protected image.
See the cloud image that went ONTO the egg ... I know ... but DON'T BE SCARED!!!
I took a cloth and wiped OFF the black cloud on the egg ... WHEW!! ... I love this!
Here is the image with lots of clouds added! ... Note .. None of the clouds are ON the egg!
Next I am going to sponge on the blue sky ... I like to use Palette - Reflection Blue ink. It makes a great and subtle blue sky.
Here I am carefully applying the ink ... carefully trying to keep some of the clouds white ... it IS ok if you do get some of the clouds blue! Having the egg embossed also protects the egg from getting blue.
Here is the image completed and ready to be finalized into a card.
Here is my final product. Added a black mat, some green gingham cardstock and some fun bright blue ribbon. I also stamped the sentiment on the card.
I hoped that clearly explained how to use your Versamarker pen and embossing powder to combine digis and traditional rubber stamps.
ENJOY!
