Flower Girl

Everything Better!

I made this card for a dear friend at work that had gone through a lot of loss in the past few weeks with multiple family members passing on. I wanted something more cheerful than a regular sympathy card and I think this fit.

This image is called Rosie Ballerina by Whimsy and Stars Studio and I colored it with my copics. I added this fun and bright yellow patterned paper and yellow flowers and bling.

Just Keep Swimmin'

Hi ... in today's post I will show you a few little things/tips that I do to add to my cards/projects to make them go from good to awesome!

For this project I used the new set Fishoodles. With this set you get 6 fish images for $3.00 .... what a GREAT deal!

First off I color the fish/sharks with my copics ... for this project I used C1 and C3 colors. I then cut them out with my scissors ... I like my Honeybee scissors (by Provocraft) for this task. They can get into tight spaces and I love the sharp point.

Then I typed up the sentiment on my computer and printed it on regular printer paper.

I then place the cardstock that I want the print on over the typed sentiment and adhere the top with removable adhesive and re-run the paper through my printer.

Here is what it looks like after it has been printed.

To add just a bit more to the sky I sponge ink on the background and edges of cardstock. I love Palette's Reflection Blue ink as a sky accent color.

Next I tore some darker blue cardstock with a white core ... this gives me white caps for the water. (NOTE --- I love tearing green for grass, brown for dirt/sand, and white for snow).

This is one of my favorite supplies ... Fun Foam Adhesive Sheets!
You can buy it in the kid's crafts aisle of your favorite craft store. It's about $0.99 for a 8.5" x 11" sheet. You can cut this up into small pieces and use it as pop-dots but it won't sag on you over time like normal pop dots might. It is also better/safer for mailing through the mail system.

Here is a side view showing the dimension on the bottom fish (I used white fun foam).

Here is the final card again ...

In Your Arms

Favorite Bear

This image from Mabelle makes me think back to my son's early days when he had his bear called "Bua Bua Bear" ... Bua Bua was with us from age 0 to about 4-5 years ... he went through a lot and was often washed in the washing machine and mom had to do a few surgeries.

This image is called Baby's Teddy and I colored it with my copics. I added a scalloped frame and buttons. The sentiment is from an old TAC set.

So Sweet!

Little Mermaid and a Tutorial

Hi ... I'm back with a brand new image from Just Some Lines.

She's called Emo Mermaid and I think she is adorable!
I added a little bling down in the corner and a great sentiment and this wonderful wooden seahorse that I found (I really wanted some sort of crab - like Sebastian! - but had to make the sea horse work because I couldn't find a crab)

For this card I also use a Nestability (Labels #8) by Spellbinders. I love using these for cutting out my images to give them a different look.

Today I have a tutorial to share with you on another creative way to use your "Nesties".....

First you want to color your image ... (I colored mine with copics and sponged the water with Palette's Reflection blue ink)

Then look at what shape and what "nestie" that you want to use ... I choose Labels #8

Now I know what you are saying ... WAIT!!! DON'T CUT OFF HER TAIL!!!! ... no worries ... that is what this tutorial is all about!

So I come in from the side ans just trim AROUND her tail and above her tail ...

Then I come in with my "nestie" again and with the cutting blade part down thread the tail OVER the nestie die.

I place this on my cutting plate and sandwich it in my Sizzix (you could also use a Cuttlebug or other die cut machine)

Here is what it looks like after it comes out of the die cut machine.

Here she is ... after this I sponged the edges more with the Palette Reflection Blue ink ... And she is all ready for placement onto my card.

Here is the final card again!

ENJOY!
